Teachers and other educators building a learning community for the global dimension.

School linking

Approach
It is intended that every school should have an international link by 2010. Although links are widely promoted as ‘a good thing' there has been very little questioning of the negative effects of linking on participating schools and communities. HEC designed and developed the UKOWLA Toolkit: challenges and opportunities (referenced in DfID's consultation on linking) which will provide a platform for raising concerns about school linking. It will provide an opportunity to promote discussion and debate on the issues.

Overall aims

  • Explore issues associated with school linking using the Toolkit for linking: challenges and opportunities
  • Encourage the questioning and review of existing links
  • Examine equality in linking in consultation with Southern partners

Partners
Oxfam: The Southern Voice in linking project
