WEDG has a resource centre with materials for primary and secondary schools, providing artefacts, story books and teaching resources on countries from the developing world.
We produce learning resources including:
Dolls Defying Discrimination - a handbook for using persona dolls.
Young Diasporas: longing and belonging - stories of young people who live in Kent, but come from other parts of the world.
Globetrotters Club handbook - a handbook of activities for a global-themed club, produced in partnership with Pestalozzi and Commonwork.
Growing Marigolds - a global handbook for nursery and pre-school practioners.
We offer a range of workshops for pupils including:
- African fabric painting
- West African symbols and printing
- Growing up in India
- Gypsies in Kent
- Chinese calligraphy and brush painting
- Caribbean performance poetry
- Playground games from around the world
We also provide training and advice on a range of global development and sustainability issues for teachers and other educators through twilight training sessions and INSET.
Target Groups
Early Years, primary and secondary pupils, university students, teachers and other educators.
Current Projects
‘My Dad says...' - a Citizenship project on empathy and critical thinking related to immigration, with Secondary schools.
Bon Appetit - an after school club focusing on local and seasonal foods, and recipes from minority cultures in our communities.
