Reported January 2009

October 2009 - three teachers and 12 students took part in delivering enjoyable global workshops to over 80 primary pupils from three of their partner primary schools at a community event.

All participants also took part in ‘stand up for poverty' awareness raising activity.

Outcomes:
• greater understanding of food, trade and poverty issues by students, pupils and teachers.
• participants had sense of being part of a global society.
• teachers enthused by global activities

November 2009 - Academy Principal booked to speak at national Community Cohesion and Global Dimension conference but had to withdraw at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances within school.

November 2009 - WEDG delivered session on ‘Using the Global Dimension across the curriculum' at Kent wide NQT Conference for secondary teachers
(this was a direct result of work with NQTs at Marlowe Academy)

Outcomes:
• Recognition of relevance to different subject areas. e.g maths teachers suggested using malaria statistics inspired by mosquito coils
• Artefacts inspired teachers to plan creatively using global items as stimuli.
• Local authority appreciated the value and say they will use WEDG again at similar conferences.

Plans for Jan-March 2010 - WEDG working with NQTs at Marlowe Academy;
Investigating possibility of developing a day during Fairtrade fortnight for students to work with pupils from a broader range of partner primary schools.
