General outline of the global dimension course
Aims
- To enable participants to explore issues of global dimension: social justice and equity, and living in a more sustainable way, in a supportive environment using a range of activities suitable for classroom use.
- To enable participants to become advocates of global dimension within their own workplaces, so that they can advise and support colleagues in this area, and build a whole school ethos with a global dimension.

- What does it look like in school?
- Inclusion, belonging and identity.
- Challenging stereotypes using images, educational materials and the media.
- Dealing with discriminatory and controversial issues in school.
- Personal awareness raising about issues: globalization, interdependence, human rights, sustainability and our impact on the planet.
- Promoting emotional literacy.
- Ways of teaching that promote critical thinking, discussion, negotiation, reasoning, co-operation and empathy.
- Ways of taking the global dimension forward in school.
