Skills 14-19
Engaging Global Awareness in the 14-19 Curriculum: New Skills for the 21st Century
Seminar Report
The keynote speakers for the seminar held in May 2006 included leading players at QCA and the Development Education Association who are instrumental in
shaping the strategic development of both Development Education and the
proposed National Diploma. The seminar also included workshops
facilitated by learning providers who are currently pioneering the
delivery of the 14-19 provision at local level or are experienced
global dimension facilitators in schools.
The key aim for the seminar was to create a platform for discussion on
the value of global awareness and skills for young people in an ever
changing global society. The seminar also provided learning providers
with practical tips, knowledge and opportunities to build learning
networks that will facilitate the smooth inclusion of Global Awareness
and Skills in the new curriculum.
The seminar report will be of particular interest to you if you are a
secondary school head, curriculum manager, college tutor, youth worker,
work based learning provider or work with 14-19 year olds.
