Routes to Roots

Global Dimension Ambassadors
R2R is training 20 young people as global dimension ambassadors. This programme of workshops aims to enable young people in the 12-16 age group, at Hornsea Secondary School for Girls and William Ellis Secondary School, to explore their identity, their place in the world and the important role they can and do play in their community, in the UK and the world as a whole.

Outcomes

  • provide space for young people to input into the delvery of the training;
  • develop a lasting tool to continue learning, such as a website;
  • build a continued relationship with the partner schools.

This project has developed from a previous series (2005-2006) where AFRUCA -Africans Unite Against Child Abuse- ran a series of sessions for young people in north London. "A definite positive to come out of the project, aside from what the children have gained, is one of the schools we worked with is very interested in incorporating global citizenship sessions into black history month."
